The myth every person must release: Singleness equates to loneliness.
1 Corinthians 7
Singlehood
Matthew 19:11-12
Jesus replied, "Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it".
Firstly Singlehood by calling.
Jeremiah 16:1-2 Then the word of the LORD came to me: "You must not marry and have sons or daughters in this place".
Secondly Singlehood by circumstances.
Thirdly Singlehood by choice.
Define loneliness: sense of gloom, causing a depressing feeling of being alone.
If you feel lonely, it is a result of poor social skill.
Men and women are made differently. But we don’t need each other to complete us. We are complete on our own.
Colossians 2:9-10 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.
5 basic needs
1. Survival: To survive as individuals as a physiological need. Food, drink, shelter, comfort, safety, good health, reproduce.
2. To love and to belong: Relationships, social connections, give and receive affection, feel part of a group.
3. Power: To achieve, be competent, skilled, sense of self-worth.
4. Freedom: To be independent, to have choices, to be able to control and direct one’s life.
5. Fun: Find pleasure, to play, laugh, learn important life lessons from playing.
Comfortable in your own skin. You need to be comfortable to yourself, for others to be comfortable with you. Do things alone, such as have meal in restaurant, go for trip, go for tour, watch movie. Sunset walk with Jesus, holding His hand.
The Pitfalls
* Romanticize love.
* Hurry love. This will result in finding faults in the other person instead of working on the relationship.
* Find substitutes. Each person is unique. Don’t look for someone like your first love.
* Form unhealthy relationships. Don’t expect man to be like your girl friends.
* Compare.
The Posture
In God's Time He makes All Things Beautiful.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
Ecclesiastes 3:11a He has made everything beautiful in its time.
I have a LOT in life.
Psalms 16:5-6 LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.
